Bluewater Big Game Fly Rods are the finest, most thoughtfully engineered, semi-custom fly rods on the market today. There are five reasons why we can say this :

1. We use only the finest blanks obtainable. These blanks are manufactured to our specific specifications to bring out the best attributes that most serious big game fly anglers have searched for years to obtain.

2. The reel seats are non-aluminum. Aluminum does not bond to composites well and will corrode after time if used in saltwater environment. Plus most aluminum reel seats on the market will mar the reel feet of you new $1000.00 and up custom reels.

3. We will not use snake guides on any fly rod we build. Snakes will groove when used with today's thin diameter braids. The guides we use are solid titanium framed with Silicon Carbide inserts not cheaper plated guides. All of the guides are oversized to provide optimum casting distance with less effort and the oversized stripper guide lessens line to reel angle for reduction of friction at the butt guide and helps to distribute more of the load through out the blank during fish fighting situations.

4. Our one-piece casting/fighting grip is unique in the industry. It is of the correct length to reduce strain on the angler and lessen fatigue of the forearms. It helps to keep the elbow from locking out making it easier to pump and control a large fish. It is also of the correct diameter to lessen the chances of cramping of the rod hand.

5. The removable fighting butt is of a correct diameter and of material construction to be comfortable to the angler. Fighting butts serve a purpose; a poorly designed one can be extremely painful. These fighting butts meet the new IGFA regulations concerning correct length.

There are at present two models to choose from, a 14 weight and a 16 weight.
Both are 81/2 feet in length for better casting and 4-piece for ease of transportation.
The 14-weight is what we call a true light 20-pound class tippet rod.
The 16-weight is a full 20-pound class tippet rod.
