The owners of Bluewater Fly Tackle are former aerospace workers with over 50 years of experience in the design, manufacture and repair of carbon epoxy resin systems as used on sub and super sonic aircraft flown by the United States military. They possess the highest degrees of certification obtainable from the Dept. of the Navy for the bonding of advanced composites and metals.
They are both members of the Rod Builder’s Guild and have over 60 years combined experience as custom rod builders. Their rod building experience coupled with their knowledge of advanced composites and bonding they are able to produce a series of fly rods specifically designed for the serious bluewater fly angler that have no equal in the fly fishing world.
Since 1978 they have traveled and fished for tidewater bass to blue marlin. They were among the first fly anglers to begin fly fishing for little tunny at Harker’s Island, NC in 1980. Their ability at locating and catching these fish is legendary.
Both owners are avid fly tyers. Their innovative approach to the art of fly tying has resulted in development of new patters and tying techniques. They are designers for Rainy’s, one of the largest fly manufactures and distributors in the world.
